RIIA® – 2016 Year in Review

Now is the season when we look back on the year’s work and plan for the next year.

This year, 2016, is RIIA’s 11th year in our 20 year business plan and marks a change in our pace as we leverage the cumulative work product of our first decade, including:

Our new website, www.riia-usa.org, is now a full engagement platform with regular content updates including  material from Michael Kitces’Marcia Wagner, Dana Anspach and many others who recognize the value and relevance of our work to the membership.

Similarly, our enhanced members-only website is optimized so that members can easily download their free pdf files of all Retirement Management Journal® (RMJ®) issues, research papers, Retirement Management Analyst® (RMA®) manuals, past conference presentations, as well as replay up to 18 months of the Virtual Learning Center’s webinars.

Our refreshed RMA online class at Salem State University uses state-of-the-art distance learning technology and pedagogical techniques to ensure that graduates are “client-ready” at the end of the nine week course. In addition to unlimited, free, opt-in individual memberships for all employees, institutional members can receive group discounts for the RMA class (contact Francois Gadenne, [email protected], for details).

For our 20th conference, we implemented a new conference format, The Summer Conference, at Salem State University this past July. The new format created a differentiated event that stands out in many important ways from the increasingly crowded field of spring and fall conferences that use a traditional format, similar to how we started 11 years ago. In particular, this conference format on a university campus made it possible to complement it with our Master-RMA boot-camp. The Master-RMA is our upper-level professional designation, providing a deep drill-down into specific topics and best practices.

This was a busy year where we implemented many changes that built on our first ten years of work together and increased membership value. We are looking forward to the next ten years! Thank you for your continued support.
