The RMA designation, created by the Retirement Income Industry Association (RIIA®), is a rigorous educational and ethics training that focuses on building custom retirement income plans to mitigate risks and to master the retirement planning advisory process. You can expect RMA advisors to explain the process, the strategies and the options more effectively to clients who are preparing for and living in retirement.
The RIIA knowledge base enables a diverse constituency of financial advisors to prepare for counseling their clients on comprehensive retirement topics and how to generate retirement income as certified RMAs. RMA advisors recertify annually to maintain their approved designation.
Clients of RMA Advisors benefit from the RIIA’s unique perspective, “The View Across The SilosSM”, because RIIA’s founders started the association and the designation as retirement clients themselves. They first “walked the path of the client” rather than looking through the lens of an industry provider.
Legend and Disclaimer
The RMA® designation is a registered mark owned jointly by RIIA® and by RMA qualified certificate holders in good standing. The mark certifies to the public that an RMA certificate holder has met the RMA professional and educational standards set by RIIA, has passed a proctored exam and is a practitioner in good standing. RMA certificate holders are trained in and required to abide by a Code of Ethics. RIIA and the RMA providers, however, do not perform any review of the quality of any RMA’s services to clients or adherence to the Code of Ethics. Thus, RIIA cannot assure that the personalized services provided to any client of an RMA will result in a necessary and appropriate plan or recommendation. RIIA does encourage you to contact us with any complaint so that we can determine whether the certification should be maintained.
