Adapting strategies to create new retirement income solutions for Americans
during these critical and volatile times was the focus of the 5th Annual MRI Conference which
took place February 9 through February 12, 2009 at the Marriott Long Wharf in Boston, MA.
Attendees remarked repeatedly about the breadth of information and thought provoking topics
offered at the MRI.

and closed the session by:

Encouraging a new Across Silos approach to retirement income management

Outlining the tremendous progress RIIA has made in helping its members
take leadership roles during this difficult time
Francois was also joined by RIIA members Elvin Turner and Mike Zwecher to
demonstrate the progress being made in defining the empirical validation framework and risk
management techniques. The new RIIA Retirement Management and Retirement Income Advisory
Process is providing an innovative and all encompassing way to help advisors help their
clients plan for retirement income. The presentation shared a wide range of updates showcasing the
current state-of-the-art in planning tools, products, investment tools and benchmarking.
MRI attendees were treated to a keynote by noted author and futurist,
Bruce Sterling. Bruce gave the current financial crisis a world perspective and
compared and contrasted it with other major transformative events.
